About Us
Discover the story behind Chilaw Trade Association - a legacy of commerce, community, and collaboration spanning over two decades in Sri Lanka's thriving trade landscape.
Our Story
The Chilaw Trade Association was founded in 1998 with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a unified platform where local traders could collaborate, grow, and contribute to the economic development of the Chilaw region. What began as a small group of passionate entrepreneurs has evolved into one of Sri Lanka's most influential trade organizations.
Located in the heart of the Western Province, Chilaw has always been a strategic trading hub due to its coastal location and rich agricultural hinterland. Our association recognized this potential early on and worked tirelessly to create an ecosystem where traditional trading practices could flourish alongside modern business methodologies.
Today, we represent over 150 active traders spanning 12 different industry sectors, from traditional coconut and spice exports to modern textile manufacturing and technology services. Our members contribute to an annual trade volume exceeding 500 million rupees, making us a significant contributor to the regional economy.
